On September 4, Modula, together with the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai), co-hosted Modula Day under the theme of “Warehouse Efficiency × Supply Chain Resilience.”

About AmCham Shanghai

Founded in 1915, AmCham Shanghai is known in China as “the voice of American business.”
It was the third American Chamber of Commerce established outside the United States and is the largest and fastest-growing AmCham in the Asia-Pacific region.

As a non-profit, non-partisan business organization, AmCham Shanghai is committed to the principles of free trade and open markets.

Opening and Welcome Remarks

The event officially began with registration, networking, and opening remarks from AmCham Shanghai.

The theme of this event resonated with the pressing concerns faced by foreign enterprises in the Chinese market today: how to maintain a stable and efficient supply chain amid uncertainty.

Jenny Ma – Business Manager, Yangtze River Delta (Suzhou & Nanjing), AmCham Shanghai

Keynote Speeches

During the keynote session, three guest speakers shared their insights on supply chains and warehousing, covering topics ranging from macro-level trends to practical applications within enterprises.

01
“Addressing Supply Chain Disruptions with Warehousing Solutions”

Shirley Ji – Head of Commercial, North Asia, APL Logistics

The first speaker from AmCham Shanghai, Shirley Ji, opened the session by sharing her observations on supply chains in the current international environment:

1.Geopolitical impact:In recent years, global dynamics and geopolitical factors have continued to affect the stability of supply chains. Lead times for certain raw materials and components have been extended, lengthening companies’ procurement cycles and increasing operational uncertainty.

2.Cost pressures on enterprises:Tariffs and policy fluctuations have imposed additional costs on companies. Surveys show that about 72% of companies pass more than half of these new costs on to consumers, with transportation often becoming the primary area of risk.

3.Diversification of supply sources:China remains one of the world’s most important supply markets, but as supply chains become more complex, more companies are looking toward Southeast Asia.

4.Response strategies – Integration and optimization:

  • Establishing regional hub warehouses to centrally manage and distribute resources.
  • Using digital tools to accelerate supply chain flows.
  • Reducing logistics and storage costs to enhance overall resilience.

She emphasized that in today’s uncertain global environment, efficient warehousing solutions and flexible supply chain management are the keys to achieving sustainable growth.

02
The Core Path to Cost Reduction and Efficiency Gains: How Modula Achieves This

Frank Wu – Operations Director, Modula China

Frank Wu then took the stage to present Modula’s perspective.

He began by introducing Modula’s history: an innovative Italian enterprise that, through continuous investment in smart warehousing, has now provided solutions to tens of thousands of customers worldwide.

Using Modula’s practices in China as an example, Frank highlighted that the core paths to achieving cost reduction and efficiency gains are:

  • Digitalization:Connecting the entire value chain from demand, design, procurement, production, to logistics with transparent and traceable data. This avoids the pitfalls of either over-control or lack of control.
  • Intelligentization:Leveraging precise data analytics and automation to optimize production of multiple product varieties in small batches, making customization no longer synonymous with high costs and long lead times.
  • Flexibility:Using modular and flexible production lines—such as combined punching-shearing-bending machines, automatic bending machines, and robotic welding systems—to enable quick capacity shifts and greater supply chain agility.
  • Localization:Producing in China and providing services locally to help customers better respond to geopolitical uncertainties, ensuring supply chain stability without disrupting production plans.

Frank emphasized that only by achieving digitalization, intelligentization, flexibility, and localization within the supply chain can enterprises remain resilient and competitive in complex circumstances, while truly reducing costs and improving efficiency.

03
Solving Warehousing Pain Points: Modula’s Customized Upgrade Solutions

Tina Zhang – Sales Manager, East China, Modula

Focusing on the practical challenges in warehousing, Tina Zhang presented Modula’s intelligent storage cabinet solutions:

  • Providing more precise storage methods for managing multiple product varieties in small batches.
  • Enabling flexible inventory adjustments to quickly respond to demand fluctuations and planning changes.
  • Seamlessly integrating with SAP, ERP, and other factory systems to drive warehouse management toward full digitalization and high efficiency.

Factory Tour and Networking

After a short break, guests visited Modula’s Suzhou factory to see firsthand the operation and production process of intelligent vertical lift modules.

As they observed trays being smoothly and efficiently transported up and down within a limited space, guests gained a more intuitive understanding of the value of automated vertical storage solutions.

In the final Q&A session, discussions centered on how to mitigate supply chain risks, practical applications of warehouse digitalization, and equipment stability under high-frequency usage.

Conclusion

In today’s globalized yet uncertain environment, warehouse efficiency and supply chain resilience have become the twin engines for foreign enterprises operating in China.

Modula will continue to support companies with innovative warehousing solutions, helping them achieve more efficient and resilient growth.

Modula warmly invites you:
“Come here and see the future!”
