Modula Anti-Seismic

Modula’s former anti-seismic solution was seismic isolation. It involves reinforcing the warehouse structure, while the latter isolates it from the energy produced by seismic acceleration.

Now Modula has a new solution. Instead of making the structures too rigid, this would make the warehouse too heavy, but to concentrate on analyzing the seismic movement and the effects on its acceleration, especially the horizontal component of peak ground acceleration (PGA).

The seismic isolator device only comes into effect when an earthquake occurs, while in no-seismic situations, the device does not affect the operation of the warehouse.

All calculations and simulations were validated by testing at Pavia’s Eucentre Foundation, the European benchmark center for research and training in earthquake risk.

Modula Anti-seismic: withstand over 1 G

Tests show that the warehouse withstands horizontal accelerations of over 1 G:

  • No damage on the warehouse
  • No damage on the trays
  • Minimize movement of the trays (which remain in place on the supporting shelves)
  • Resumption of normal operation
